Meet: David Geerts
Empathy AS the cornerstone of business success
David is Research Manager of the Meaningful Interactions Lab (Mintlab) of KU Leuven, affiliated with imec, at the faculty of Social Sciences in Belgium, where he leads a team of about 15 researchers doing collaborative research projects with industry. He specialises in human-centered-design and evaluation of (social) interactive television, and supervise several local and EU projects on this topic. He has a PhD in Social Sciences on the Sociability of Interactive Television, for which he developed heuristics for designing and evaluating social television interfaces. He was program chair of EuroITV2009, the 7th European Interactive TV Conference, general chair of ACM TVX2015, the second ACM International Conference on Interactive Experiences for Television and Online Video and am currently chair of the TVX steering committee. He has published more than 100 publications in various international conferences and journals, and regularly gives presentations, tutorials and guest lectures on topics related to Human-Computer-Interaction. In 2007, he co-founded U-Sentric, an SME that provides UX consultancy services, where he still is a partner.
